On The Road To RV Adventures (Vol.36 No.6)

Our ver the years, the staff of RV Lifestyle Magazine have logged thousands of miles on the RV roads to adventure, visiting destinations throughout North America, and beyond.

On our travels, we always try to explore the many sights and attractions along the route, in the belief that “getting there is half the fun”.

This issue, two of our major features focus on ways to expand your RV horizons by touring the many points of interest that lie just off the major RV routes.

One example of an RV friendly state that travelers often drive straight through on their way to the sunbelt is North Dakota - Doreen Pendgracs guides us through the wild prairie rose state, as she describes the many cultural and scenic attractions that exist just a few miles south of the border.

For the RV enthusiast, traveling to the end of the paved road and then hiking into the wilderness can be an exhilarating experience, and there is no better place in central Canada to embark on a voyage of discovery than Ontario’s Algonquin Provincial Park. We asked Fred Brenner to take us along on an autumn adventure in Algonquin Park - whether you visit during the heart of the summer season, or tour the park to absorb the splendor of the fall foliage, you will find the same magnificent scenery that inspired the Group of Seven to create Canada’s most famous works of art.

RV touring in an energy conscious era has become a bit of a challenge, as we all try to reduce our carbon footprint. Both of our road test vehicles in this issue have been specifically designed to provide all the comforts of home while utilizing fuel efficient lightweight construction – definitely a trend for the future. In keeping with this theme, Andy Thomson’s Hitch Hints column focuses on ways to enhance your fuel efficiency when towing your RV, and Tech Editor Garth Cane takes a close look at the state of the art in hybrid vehicles.

For those intrepid RV navigators faced with the never ending question “are we there yet?” the definitive answer is yes… when you travel with one of the latest GPS units featured in our special report in this issue. Next time someone asks you “are we lost?” you can confidently reply that you know exactly where you are, how far it is to your destination, and how long it will take to get there.

Now that’s the way to enjoy traveling on the RV roads to adventure!
