Why I Love Old Town Toronto (35-7)
By Doreen Pendgracs

St. Lawrence Hall
(Built in 1850 to serve as the city's public meeting place,
St. Lawrence Hall is a must see on any Old Town tour.)
It may not be Alice's Restaurant (as in the old pop song), but I guarantee you'll be able to get just about
anything you want at the St. Lawrence Market in downtown Toronto, whether it's fresh meats, cheeses, baked goods, produce, housewares, crafts and more. But get there early on a Saturday morning to get the best variety of fresh produce and baking. Otherwise, you'll have to settle for what's been left behind by the early birds.

Located in the southwest quadrant of what has been designated as Old Town Toronto, St. Lawrence Market is
situated on Front Street East at Jarvis. The fascinating district of Old Town is easily accessible by public transportation - if you prefer to leave your rig in the campground - and runs from Yonge Street in the west to Bayview Street in the east and is bordered by Queen Street East as the northern boundary and the railway tracks running just north of the Gardiner Expressway (where you'll find The Distillery Historic District) to the south.
