| It’s
easy to see why people choose RVing as their #1 pastime.
After all, there are no expensive hotel fees involved,
you’re already at home. You’re not limited
to the confines of a cruise ship for most of your
vacation; you go where you want to. Visiting local
attractions isn’t dependant upon local public
transportation, it’s limited to how far you
want to drive (plus there’s no need to rent
a car). RVing truly is the ideal way to vacation.
It’s important to stress how special RVers are
as people; they’re sociable and enjoy the outdoors.
For instance, they can easily recount the interesting
personalities they’ve come across on each of
their journeys. “Full-timers” meet hundreds
of new people every year as they traverse the countryside
(or caravan internationally!). A case could be made
that many RVers are comparable to what Malcolm Gladwell,
author of The Tipping Point (a New York Times #1 bestseller),
describes as “connectors,” since their
many journeys have led them to establishing such a
broad group of new friends.
We hope that this issue will help you to discover
a campground to visit in Canada – and perhaps
even lead you to meeting some new friends. At the
center of this issue you’ll find our 2006 campground
directory, bursting with more than 4,000 campgrounds,
telling you where to go, what to see and how to get
there. Our talented freelance writers also bring us
a taste of Canada’s unique and diverse wildlife
that often flourishes not too far off the beaten path,
as well as a guide to enjoying the exquisite beauty
of the Oceanside Region on Vancouver Island. Our nation’s
summer is jam-packed with music festivals, encompassing
a wide-range of genres, so check out our 2006 Canadian
Music Festivals feature.
As always, our technical experts offer their advice
on how you can improve the quality of your RVing experience.
If you have any particular questions that you’d
like addressed, I welcome you to write in.
See you at the campgrounds!
