Let’s
look back on a rally year to remember.
For
us, the beginning of a new RV year involves looking
back on all of last year’s great rallies:
The Big Apple, The Canadian Family Camping Federation
(CFCF) 40th Anniversary, The Rally, Wine Country,
Music City USA, Good Sam, I Love Lucy, New England
Colour Caravan, and the Fall R&R. Here are
some of the highlights.
Forty Years of Fun
Taking place at the beginning of summer, one notable
event was in Fergus, Ontario, where we joined
the CFCF 40th Anniversary Rally.
Games, prizes, food and entertainment made it
a fun weekend. Forty years of providing fun in
the RV community is a wonderful accomplishment
worth celebrating. We’d like to wish CFCF
members another 40 excellent years of RVing.
Gaining Momentum
Another memorable stop for us was The Rally at
the KOA Campground in Cookstown, Ontario, in early
June. We were Wagon Masters for this fifth annual
rally, so we had to arrive early, but rally guests
were already there, offering a helping hand.
The Rally is an educational function with seminars
that teach participants what’s new, what’s
old, and how to use equipment safely. We also
feed and entertain. Last year’s lineup included:
hospitality on Thursday, along with Comedy Gutbusters,
made up of three talented comedians; lunch on
Friday; dinner on Saturday; and breakfast on Sunday.
Friday night included the inspiring sounds of
Kiley Joe, for dancing the night away, and Saturday
evening brought the Caveners, who dress like The
Beatles, look like The Beatles, and sound just
like The Beatles.
Last year was The Rally’s best; it was sold
out, boasting the largest attendance since its
launch in 2000. Because many companies insisted
on holding seminars, some of them were overlapped.
The Rally is getting so popular, the 2006 gathering
was sold out before the end of last July.
Time to Wine
One of the rallies was held in mid-June at beautiful
Quinte’s Isle Campark in Cherry Valley,
Ontario. Wagon Trains was having its Wine Country
Rally, and wine it would be. A coach bus was arranged,
and on Friday, we were off to visit several new
wineries, taste the product, and have lunch at
one of them.
Along the way, we made a quick stop at the cheese
factory. Saturday brought games, a catered dinner,
and a singing/guitar playing Brad DeMille. Sunday
featured a catered breakfast. Qunite’s Isle
Campark is a very well kept campground, and the
Ward family treated everyone like a VIP.
All in all, 2005 turned out to be one of the best
rally years yet.
Take care, & happy RVing
