| Celebrating
25 years of adventure.
Our RV association gathered
at Odas Park in Orillia, Ontario, to celebrate the 25th
anniversary of Wagon Trains. More than 150 came out
to celebrate this milestone of RV adventures. The RV
Warehouse even provided entertainment, featuring Dave
Hoy & the Good Time Music Hall & Show. It was
quite the evening, let me tell you! Karen and I would
like to thank everyone for their friendship, their kindness,
and for traveling with us over these past 25 years.
George
and Gladys Morris are lifetime members of Wagon Trains,
and at our 10th anniversary George read out a poem that
he wrote. At our 25th anniversary George read the poem
again, this time with a few updates. We thought you
might enjoy reading it, and having as good a laugh as
we did.
ODE TO M.B. WILSON
They call our leader M.B.,
But that's really not his name,
He was once an entertainer,
But now RVing is his game.
We've
all heard the song
"On the Road Again"
It was sung by Willie Nelson,
The inspiration for our RV Club,
Its organizer - M.B. Wilson.
As
our Wagon Master, he is regal,
He's perfection every day,
We follow him thru fog and rain,
As he leads us on our way.
His
CB chatter is always perfect,
How could we be so lucky?
To have a guy with such finesse,
Sound like the Rubber Ducky.
Instructions
we get by the dozens,
You can tell he really loves it,
If I hear that exit one more time,
I'm going to tell him where to shove it.
And
as we travel down the road,
A very impressive sight,
His booming voice comes
loud and clear,
Are all your wheel nuts tight?
He
tells us when to stop and start,
And just what gear to use,
He even shows us where to park,
And when to go on cruise.
Traveling
with this Wagon Master,
I have but one complaint,
Someday when he gets old as me,
He too, may have a weak prostate.
And
then his stops will be more frequent,
And we'll all watch with glee,
As he turns into a roadside park,
To finally have a wee.
And
then it's time to fuel our rigs,
Now that Karen, she's some smart,
'Cause the only gas for miles and miles,
Is beside a big Wal-Mart.
So
if you see a cart piled high,
Pushed by our first mate Karen,
There'll be a guy not far behind,
Just a-cursing and a-swearing.
Nashville
and Gatlin we took by storm,
With peach fuzz and a little booze,
But I never thought we'd see the day,
M.B. dance in his Blue Suede Shoes.
The
meals we had were a pure delight,
Each one was an absolute winner,
My gosh M.B. Ð you did it again,
You served another chicken dinner.
You
heard him ridicule the chicken,
It was a nasty deed!
If the truth be known it paid our way,
They were fed on Purina Feed.
As
the time goes by, so the saying goes,
And things are added to our
cares and woes,
We had to take a final stand,
And bid farewell to this RV land.
Fond
memories we will always remember,
Christmas at Disney World in December,
To Nashville and Branson to see a Country Show,
Luckenbach, Tucson and a place called Barstow,
Dollywood, Deadwood, but to name a few,
We even visited the San Diego Zoo.
Las
Vegas, Laughlin with slots galore,
Even Myrtle Beach on the Atlantic Shore,
The places we've seen, the friends and the fun
We thank the WILSONS for a job well done.
And
when the time came after 15 years,
Saying good-bye brought a few little tears,
As we stood in the driveway and gave a wave,
Someone else drove away in our Brave.
And
so in closing let's give a salute,
To the man that makes it go.
With the famous word he says so well,
Lets shout another "RHINO".
- George Morris
Take
care & Happy Family Day
