Sportlight - Carriage Inc. Cameo LXI F35SLQ
(33-7)
|
Spend
enough time in an RV and you eventually develop a mental list
of little things you would do differently if you were the manufacturer.
It would appear the designers at Carriage Inc. have gone through
the very same process, as evidenced by the attention to detail
in the company's Cameo LXI fifth wheel. Created for serious
RVers who will spend a substantial amount of time on the road
each year, the Cameo LXI features all of those little things
that make such a big difference in day-to-day living.
With the kind assistance of Nancy Jarrett at Leisure Days RV
Centre in Kitchener, Ontario (1-866-623-4678) we enjoyed the
opportunity to evaluate a quad-slide, 2005 model F35SLQ. The
large, flush-floor slideouts (three on the street side, one
on the curb side) and beautiful interior dŽcor immediately provide
a sense of multi-room living.
The
entrance brings you into the kitchen and dining area. The laminate
kitchen counter features a deep double acrylic sink with a Moen
residential-style faucet with sprayer, leading rearward to a
Magic Chef three-burner stove and oven with overhead range hood
and a Dometic microwave. To the right of the stove is a large
pantry closet with six deep, sliding drawers. Overhead, a ceiling
fan provides ventilation. Interior cabinetry is oak with solid
oak doors (maple cabinetry is available as an option). That
attention to detail becomes apparent when you really look at
the vast storage afforded in the kitchen area. It isn't just
the storage volume of the cabinets, but the ease of access.
For example, the under-sink storage can be accessed from two
sides Ð facing the sink or from the rear of the cabinet flanking
the entry door. Thank you! Further, the food preparation area
features a luxurious but tough-as-nails Armstrong HPL floor
that can take high traffic, spills and mud from outside in stride
while still looking good. Again, attention to detail here.
The Norcold eight cubic foot gas/electric refrigerator sits
opposite the pantry in the street-side slideout, next to a free-standing
dinette with four chairs. The slideout area is carpeted. The
living room is separated from the kitchen by a pair of beautiful
sliding glass doorswith oak frames. An oak entertainment center
occupies the forward portion of the curb-side slideout with
provision for a Sony home theatre system and a 24-inch Sony
WEGA television. Below sits an optional fireplace. The balance
of the slideout accommodates a computer desk. An overhead ceiling
fan provides fresh air. The unit we evaluated had two of Carriage's
luxurious Euro-style leather recliners with foot stools across
the back, and a Hide-a-bed sofa in the street-side slide. With
the two opposing slideouts and the ornate glass doors, you have
to remind yourself you're in an RV and not a house.
