As we head for press with this issue of RV Lifestyle Magazine the
icy grip of winter is releasing Canada from its grasp, the days
are getting longer, and it's time to start planning our RV adventures
for the summer of '03.
Our Road Test Teams have been busy preparing special reports on
a wide range of 2003 recreational vehicles, which we will feature
in the coming issues, as well as an expanded series of articles
on the trucks, vans, and SUV's that Canadians prefer for towing
their trailers. Our travel writers are wrapping up their special
reports on some of North America's preferred RV destinations, and
a few out-of-the-way spots that most RV'ers have yet to discover.
We are now in the final stages of preparation for our annual RV
Buyer's Guide issue, slated for publication next month, and our
Canadian Campground Directory issue, which will be available in
April. These special issues are included in your annual subscription,
and they will be delivered to your home if you choose to subscribe
before the end of this month. There is an excellent subscription
special on page 74, and we would be delighted to welcome you to
our family of RV Lifestyle Magazine readers.
As we plan our road tests and travel features, we always take special
care with the preparation of our staff vehicles. All motorhomes,
trailers, and tow vehicles are examined for wear and tear, tune-up
schedules are updated, and maintenance logs are checked to assure
trouble-free touring.
During our travels, we have noticed a considerable number of vehicles
that have not enjoyed similar attention. Last summer, we did a visual
inspection of tires on trailers and tow vehicles belonging to people
attending a number of events. We were surprised to see how many
people were driving vehicles with tires that exhibited signs of
uneven wear, road hazard damage, and improper inflation. RV'ers
must be aware that there is much more to tire maintenance than simply
monitoring the tread wear. Your tires can tell you if your vehicle
has steering, alignment, braking or suspension problems - and they
are your most important safety concern whenever you drive. If you
haven't checked your tires lately, it's time to read our special
feature on page 64.
Have you discovered a special RV destination that you would like
to share with your fellow RV Lifestyle Magazine readers? Why not
drop us a line, or send an e-mail to letters@rvlifemag.com
- we will compile a list of the ten top RV destinations, as selected
by the readers, and publish the results in the annual Campground
Directory issue. (Top)
