Keeping Track Of Your Vehicle

Guy Annable of Baka Wireless introduced me to the BAKA TRAK-IT system for locating vehicles that are travelling on the road. Normally sold to keep track of trucking fleets, taxis, and airport limosines, this system transmits the time, location, and speed of a vehicle using GPS technology so that family members can track the travels of Mother and Dad as they move around the country. The position is transmitted by a private two-way 8-bit data system called Cellemetry technology, the same system that is used to identify the location of a cell phone when it is outside its regular area of operation. Each time you turn on your cell phone when you are travelling, the electronic serial number of the phone and its location are transmitted to a central office so that regardless of where a phone call originates in North America, it will find your cell phone location.
