Here's a
true stoke of genius from the designers at Glendale RV
in Strathroy, Ontario, one of Canada's leading RV manufacturers
for 51 years.
The new Titanium fifth wheel is an
exciting Canadian concept, destined to be one of the most
popular models of the year.
Designers
of conventional fifth wheels with front bedrooms generally
place overhead storage and night tables at the front of
the trailer, and the front of the trailer is more or less
lined-up with the fifth wheel pin position. In the Titanium
fifth wheel design, the overhead storage and the headboard
of the bed extend into a "cab over" front cap, which extends
in front of the fifth wheel pin position, so that the front
of the trailer overhangs the fifth wheel by about 5.5 feet.
The result? A 28.5 foot fifth wheel with
approximately the same interior space as a conventional
33 foot model. Streamlined for optimal aerodynamics, and
balanced for easy towing and excellent roadability, this
patented concept is certainly one of the first RV designs
of the new millennium.
What about the interior decor? As opulent
as the Golden Falcon models, with a distinctive flair
reserved for Titanium models.
Preliminary RV Lifestyle road tests are
now under way, with a full report scheduled for the May
issue.
In the meantime, a few FAQ's:
Light weight composite materials complement
the new design, resulting in a lighter RV than usual for
this length.
The Titanium is ideal for RV'ers interested
in the new scaled-down pick-up truck models.
Aerodynamic styling of the front cap, as well
as optimized interior floor plan, are expected to significantly
reduce fuel consumption.
The new concept tows like a compact fifth
wheel, yet has about the same interior space of a larger
vehicle.
Yes, you can make a tight radius turn without
contacting the rear of the truck cab, because the fifth
wheel overhang is above the truck roof level.
Yes, the Titanium fifth wheel can be used
in a short bed pick-up truck without the need for a sliding
hitch.
It's a great new look!
