Park Model living is becoming increasing popular in campgrounds across Canada, as many Canadian families are discovering the vacation alternatives offered by well designed, fully equipped units situated in a resort type setting. Upscale parks are being developed across the country. These include a full range of attractive amenities such as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water parks and recreation centers, tennis courts and many other activities catering to all age groups.
            Because of the increasing demand for more and better facilities many older parks are being upgraded. Existing sites are being enlarged to provide for larger units, washroom and laundry facilities improved, and a wide variety of other services such as internet and TV access provided.
            The ongoing interest in these transportable homes has resulted in an increasing number of RV manufactures devoting more of their plants to park model production. Consequently, a wide variety of these models are now available in the market place. Not everyone can afford the larger more expensive “top-of-the-line” units, but thankfully there are many alternatives, affordable models from which to choose.
             One of these is the competitively priced Sportsmen 39FL2 Park Model. This unit is manufactured in Shipshewana Indiana, by the KZ Company, a well know and respected manufacturer which also produces a full line of fifth wheels and travel trailers. This Sportsmen unit is a 41ft (including hitch) x 8ft wide model with two slide-outs which add to the spacious feeling of the basic 8ft width.
            The large slide-out in the living room contains a deluxe sofa bed and recliner and a full size dinette table and 4 chairs. Three large windows add a pleasing effect to the bay area across the front end of the living room. Under the window sits a desk for TV and computer use, a cushioned seat and a range of lower cupboards. Further large windows in the slide-outs and living room plus a large patio sliding door add openness and natural light throughout the KZ Park Model. Attractive lighting, valances, night shades and curtains brighten up the interior with a pleasing ambience. Complementing this tasteful treatment is the raised panel oak mortise and tenon cabinetry and the high grade carpeting and under pad to be found in the living room slide-outs and the bedroom.
            The radius cornered kitchen counter has a durable finish and ample space to work around the large double sink and the free standing range /oven and microwave. A house type double door 110V refrigerator and a handy pull- out pantry sit across from the counter area with easy access to both the dinette table and kitchen facilities. This unit is equipped with a 10gal gas electric water heater, 40,000BTU furnace, 13,000 ducted BTU air conditioning, AM/FM/CD player and AM/FM/ stereo with DVD and speakers.
            The walk-through bathroom is tastefully decorated with twin sinks which add a nice and useful touch. Other equipment is the optional house type toilet with hamper above, tub / shower enclosure and a corner medicine cabinet. There is a skylight above the shower and an overhead roof vent.
            The attention to detail which is evident throughout this KZ Sportsmen is carried through into the roomy and nicely appointed rear bedroom. The head of the king size bed sits in the second slide-out beneath a large window. Additional windows on either side of the slide-out provide cross ventilation.
            Across the back wall is a wardrobe with sliding mirror door and a full range if storage cabinets below the wardrobe. A full size dresser which sits at the foot of the bed also provides additional drawer and cupboard space. A TV shelf is also standard equipment.
            There are large numbers of additional interior options and extras which are available in Sportsmen Park Models. These include master bedroom air conditioner, upgraded 20gal water heater, fireplace, flat screen TV’s awnings much more.
            The exterior of this unit is enhanced by the front bay window treatment, the smart exterior graphics and the durable fibreglass siding. The hitch is detachable, if required, for easier placing in a park setting, however the axles are usually required to stay on the unit in order to facilitate quick removal in case of an emergency such as a fire.
            We checked with a local dealer John Petrie of Niagara RV and Trailer centre and he informed us that this unit, with most of the extras and options as described, would retail from his lot at approximately $36,900 (not including taxes) we would suggest that if you are interested in a KZ Sportsmen Park Model you should contact your local dealer for a complete breakdown of prices, options and extras on this attractive unit.
